Indeed, the craft was so strong in 18th and 19th century India (particularly with nose jobs), that British physicians would travel there just to see how rhinoplasty was done by the Indians.
Fun fact: one of the world’s first major surgery was performed in 1815 by Joseph Carpue and he was able to do so because he spent 20 years in India learning the trade.
